Family of 4 among 5 killed in SUV-truck collision | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: Five persons, including four members of a family, were killed and seven others injured in a road accident near Powakhali under the same police station in Kishanganj district on Sunday morning. Among the injured are five children and two adults.
The accident took place on NH-327E near Petbhari under Powakhali police station in the district when an SUV collided with a truck.The impact of the collision was so severe that the body of the driver of the SUV had to be extricated with much effort from the vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as the driver Md Irshad (30); Gulshan Ara (27), Gudiya (13), Md Ayan (8) and Md Afan (5), all belonging to the same family. All the victims were native of Thapkol village in Araria district, the police said. According to police, the accident occurred when the SUV carrying 12 passengers, including seven children, was on way to Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal. The driver of the SUV, Md Irshad, lost control of the vehicle and collided with the truck, said the police.
While three people died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries at Mata Gujri Memorial Medical College and Hospital, Kishanganj.
Kishanganj SP, Sagar Kumar said, “Eyewitnesses reported that the SUV was moving at the speed of about 100 km/hr.”
