Fake Job Racket: Fake Job Racket Mastermind Held In Capital City | Bhubaneswar News


Berhampur: Kandhamal district’s Sarangada police arrested the mastermind of a fake job racket in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. The accused allegedly duped job seekers by promising them positions as data entry operators in block offices across various districts of the state.
The mastermind was identified as Ranjeet Pattnaik (33) of Charibadi in Cuttack district.He had been running an office in Bhubaneswar and allegedly conducted fake interviews of job aspirants, police said.
On Sept 2, police arrested two others involved in the racket — Kandarpa Nayak from Sarangada and Jyoti Prakash Dandasena from Tumudibandha in Kandhamal district.
“Police seized several fake job offer letters from the trio. The accused allegedly cheated several educated, unemployed youths from various districts, including Kandhamal, Ganjam, and Balasore,” said Badhulika Biswal, IIC of Sarangada police station.
She added that police have complaints from at least six victims from Kandhamal and Ganjam so far. Police suspect their network may extend to several other districts, where they may have duped many unemployed youths.
Police said the accused collected Rs 70,000 from each victim, assuring them data entry jobs in block offices within their respective blocks. The money was collected through online transactions and in cash starting Dec 2023.
