Exec’s credit card kept in locker used for 4L deals

Mumbai: A senior official of an international firm was cheated of Rs 4.10 lakh after her credit card was used in 44 fraudulent transactions done in Australia, the US, New Zealand although the credit card was in a locker in the cabin at her Andheri office. An FIR was registered on Tuesday based on a complaint lodged by the 52-year-old director.
The fraudulent transactions took place between Dec 17 and Jan 8 though the card was in the office, said an officer of Andheri police station.
In the complaint the director said: “I realised about the fraud when I returned to India after completing an official tour on Jan 30… I did not make any transactions as I was abroad and the card had been kept in the offence.
The Andheri police said at least 30 transactions was carried out in New Zealand, two at Melbourne and 12 in the US (California and Washington).
The credit card officers have been told to block the cards used for online booking of train tickets in Washington, bus ticket booking in New Zealand, traffic fines in Melbourne, payments at a stationery shops. —V Narayan
