Danapur deputy superinrtendent of police (DSP) Bhanu Pratap Singh said that as per technical evidence, two people on a bike reached near Gop’s house in Pethiya Bazaar and fired at him. “Vikash, who came to his help, also sustained bullet injuries and died, while the condition of Gop is critical. He sustained bullet injuries to his head, neck and chest. According to doctors, his brain is dead, but heart is pumping,” he said.
Singh told this newspaper on Sunday, “A special investigating team has been formed under Danapur station house officer to investigate into the incident from all angles. We are examining the Vikash’s criminal record to ascertain the reason behind the shooting. However, prima facie, it appears to be a case of personal rivalry. No arrests have been made yet.”
The forensic team collected at least seven empty bullet shells from the crime scene.
According to the local residents, more than 10 rounds were fired by the criminals.
