Ex-legislator Sapkal takes charge as new MPCC prez | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: Former legislator Harshawardhan Sapkal on Tuesday took over as the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president from Nana Patole, who resigned a month ago in the wake of Congress’s humiliating defeat in the assembly elections.
Senior Congress leaders, including former CMs Prithviraj Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde, Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad, MPs Praniti Shinde and Rajya Sabha member Chandrakant Handore, attended the event.
Sapkal said though the performance of the Congress was disappointing, in the days to come, Congress will reach every corner of the state and the day is not far when Congress nominee will be the CM of the state. “BJP is not a strong party, therefore it had to engineer a split in Shiv Sena and NCP, certain leaders from Congress were admitted in BJP… we will have to build the organisation from grassroots level,” Sapkal said. — Prafulla Marpakwar
