Ex-chief secy Jena is new OERC chairperson | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: State govt on Friday appointed former chief secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena as the new chairperson of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC). The appointment was announced through a notification issued by the energy department.
According to the notification, Jena will assume the post with immediate effect. The appointment was made under sub-section 5 of Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
A 1989-batch IAS officer, Jena served as chief secretary from March 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. While his initial tenure was scheduled to end on Dec 31, 2023, the previous govt extended his service by six months.
The appointment comes following Jena’s retirement. He was succeeded as chief secretary by 1990-batch IAS officer Manoj Ahuja. OERC plays a crucial role in regulating the electricity sector.TNN
