Ensure Proper Arrangements for Independence Day Celebrations in Patna | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Preparations are in full swing for the Independence Day celebrations at the historic Gandhi Maidan here. The entire Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four sectors and sub-sectors as per requirement. All the sectors will be under the supervision of additional district magistrates (ADMs) and sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs). “Women police force, lathi force and other forces will be deployed as per the requirement,” Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh said on Sunday.
The DM inspected the Gandhi Maidan and reviewed preparations for the 78th Independence Day celebrations. He also held a review meeting with the officials concerned.
Singh asked the officials concerned to ensure proper arrangements for cleanliness, barricading, seating, traffic management, parking, electricity, parade and rehearsal, drinking water, medical facilities, fire safety, sound systems, display of tableaux, invitation cards and law and order.
“The I-Day celebrations will be held across the district. The main govt function will be held at Gandhi Maidan. All preparations are underway and the entire Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four zones, with ADMs and SDPOs leading each zone,” Singh said.
He added that the executive engineer of building construction department, Patna division, has been asked to ensure complete barricading as per the approved map. “The levelling of Gandhi Maidan and necessary repairs to all entrance gates of its boundary wall will be carried out. Necessary brick pitching will be done on parade ground, tableau routes, and entrances,” the DM said.
“The parade rehearsal started on August 1 and will continue until August 13 with 19 contingents participating. All contingents will ensure their presence at the scheduled time for rehearsals and public amenities will be arranged. Availability of drinking water, medical teams and other necessary arrangements will be there during rehearsals. Water tankers and water ATMs will be installed during the event for the convenience of the visitors,” Singh said.
