Ensure 75% jobs are for Tamils: CPI | Chennai News – The Times of India

Chennai: The CPI on Tuesday urged state govt to enact legislation mandating 75% of jobs in industrial units be filled by Tamils.
Participating in a debate, CPI MLA (Thally) T Ramachandran expressed concern that out-of-state youth predominantly hold these jobs despite TN’s leading manufacturing position and high number of industrial units.
The CPM urged state govt to revoke its order allowing outsourcing for certain positions and address various worker concerns. CPM MLA M Chinnadurai called for filling lakhs of existing vacancies through the public service commission to alleviate unemployment among educated youth.
“The govt should release the outstanding dues for transport workers and increase aid for people with disabilities,” the MLA said. He highlighted ongoing protests by employees across different sectors, including Tasmac, and urged govt to engage constructively with their demands instead of resorting to arrests. TNN
