Koraput: Acting on a tip-off, a state vigilance team intercepted Sahadev Kisan, superintending engineer (SE), public health, in Rayagada district while he was allegedly transporting suspected ill-gotten Rs 1.5 lakh in cash on Wednesday evening.Officials said based on credible intelligence regarding the collection of illegal cash from contractors, a team of vigilance officers intercepted Kisan while he was en route to his govt quarters. The operation was carried out as he travelled in his official vehicle.“During the interception, unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 1,50,000 was recovered from his possession. As Kisan failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the funds, the amount was seized on the spot,” read a release.“Following the interception, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Kisan from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle. He is currently being examined by vigilance officers to ascertain the source and nature of the seized funds,” it added.
