Encroachments removed from Patna Junction vicinities | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion, the Patna district administration launched an anti-encroachment drive on Thursday, targeting 21 areas across the city. The drive, which will continue until Jan 11, is aimed at clearing roads and public spaces of encroachments. Eight teams, comprising officials from 13 departments, will work in tandem to remove encroachments with a focus on major thoroughfares and commercial hubs. The drive will cover areas such as Nehru Path, Dak Bungalow Crossing, Income Tax Golamber and Rajabazar, among others.
The anti-encroachment drive was carried out in Nutan Rajdhani, Patlipura, Patna City and Azimabad circles of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday on the direction of Patna divisional commissioner, Mayank Warwade. According to an official release issued by the district administration, a total of Rs 33,050 was raised as a fine from the encroachers during the drive in all four circles of PMC on the first day. A maximum fine of Rs 10,200 was raised from the encroachers in Patna City circle, followed by Patliputra. Azimabad circle recorded a minimum fine of Rs 5,600 while Rs 7,200 was raised from Nutan Rajdhani circle.
The anti-encroachment drive was carried out in the circles from 10 am to 2pm. Temporary encroachments were removed from both sides of the road, including the areas of GPO Roundabout, Patna Junction Roundabout, under the Chiraiyataand Bridge, Boring Road Chauraha, Rajapur vegetable market, Shershah Path, Paschim Darwaza, Gai Ghat, Chowk Shikarpur, Bal Leela Gurudwara and Chowk area in Patna City.
“Strict action will be taken against those encroaching on main roads. A fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed on temporary encroachers and Rs 20,000 on permanent encroachers. If encroachment occurs again, a case will be filed against the individuals involved. A follow-up team has been formed to prevent future encroachments,” Warwade said.
The campaign is being monitored by the ADM of city administration and the city magistrate. Under the state govt’s directives, magistrates and police forces have been deployed for the campaign. Previously, the municipal corporation requested magistrates and police forces from the district administration, but now this process has been simplified under the new system.
