At present, the state govt does not have a record of those detained during the Emergency period. It intends to come up with a public notice to identify such persons. The govt also plans to analyse the jail records to identify detainees during the Emergency.
In a bid to foster a sporting culture in the state, Majhi also announced his plan to set up a new world-class stadium spread across 120 acres and to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
“The stadium will have an indoor velodrome, mountain biking facility, swimming pool, football ground, archery arena, badminton court and fitness park, and can be used by athletes and the general public. We are also going to construct national-level stadiums in every district,” the CM said. The location, though, is yet to be decided.
Majhi also said a decision has been made to extend the sponsorship of the Indian hockey teams till 2036. “Additionally, we have decided to launch the ‘Khel Ratna Khoja Abhiyan’ to encourage talented athletes from the state,” the CM said.
He stated that his govt is committed to economic uplift of farmers and overall development of women. “Our govt has decided to fulfil these two promises within 100 days of governance,” Majhi said, adding that funds have been duly allocated for this in the budget.
