Eligible beneficiaries can apply by March 31 to get 3 Subhadra instalments: Parida

Bhubaneswar: Eligible beneficiaries of Subhadra Yojana, who have not yet received the first instalment, can apply by March 31 to get all three instalments, including one from the previous year, together at one go, deputy chief minister Pravati Parida informed on Sunday.
The first instalment of Rs 5,000 will be disbursed to 1.7 lakh beneficiaries in the fifth phase on March 6, followed by the second instalment on March 8. The third instalment is scheduled to be released on Raksha Bandhan.
“Not a single eligible beneficiary will be left out from getting the Subhadra money. Those who missed out on the first few opportunities should not get disheartened and can still clear anomalies and apply by March 31 so that they can get the three instalments on Rakhi Purnima,” Parida said, adding that the govt will fulfil the promise it made to the women of the state. “The number of beneficiaries is set to cross the 1-crore mark on International Women’s Day on March 8, when the second instalment will be released,” she added.
Giving credit to grassroots workers for including such a massive number of women under the flagship scheme of the BJP govt, Parida said, “Govt is all set to achieve the magic number of 1 crore in just eight months due to the hard work of anganwadi workers and bank mitras, including the teams headed by district collectors. The grassroots workers visited door to door and resolved anomalies to ensure that more and more women can be included in the scheme.”
So far, over 98 lakh women have received the first instalment of Rs 5,000 in their bank accounts in four phases since the scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sept 17, 2024. The state govt has allocated Rs 55,825 crore for five years for the scheme with an aim to promote women empowerment.
“The scheme is on the right track to empower women on an unprecedented scale, and the transformation is quite evident,” Parida said.
