Elderly woman in Bengaluru jumps to death | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 70-year-old woman reportedly jumped from the third storey of a residential building in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, HSR Layout, early Sunday morning. The deceased, identified as Vijayalakshmi, was residing with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren, following the loss of one of her sons during Covid-19 pandemic.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred around 4am and was discovered when an autorickshaw driver noticed her body on the road. HSR Layout police were alerted around 4.30am and they reached the spot immediately.
A senior officer said Vijayalakshmi was a homemaker, who had lost her husband several years ago. The couple had four children — two sons and two daughters. One son had died years prior, while another succumbed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since these losses, Vijayalakshmi had reportedly been distressed and experiencing age-related health issues.
“No death note was found in her residence. She jumped from the building owned by her relatives, opposite to her home,” the officer said.
Authorities have registered a case of unnatural death, based on a complaint filed by her daughter, and investigation is on.
