Elderly Man Murdered in Patna Land Dispute: Shocking Violence Erupts | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: An elderly man was shot dead at his home by some armed criminals in the Naya Tola locality under the Danapur police station area in Patna district late Thursday evening. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. He was shot multiple times by the criminals. The incident appears related to a land dispute, police said.
City SP (west) Sarath R S said the incident occurred around 6pm. “The deceased was identified as Paras Rai (60). He was sitting outside his house when some bike-borne miscreants shot him. Rai was immediately rushed to a private hospital near Saguna Mor by the neighbours, where he succumbed to his injuries,” the SP added.
He said prima facie, Rai was shot five times on the legs and the backside of his body. “Five empty bullet shells were recovered from the spot. A forensic science lab (FSL) team visited the spot and collected samples from there. The CCTV cameras installed in the area are being scanned to identify the culprits,” the SP said.
He added, “During the preliminary investigations, it was revealed that Rai was having a dispute over ancestral land with his relatives. It may have resulted in the killing. Around six criminals were involved in the incident. Rai fled into the house, but the criminals chased him inside and shot him in the home. The body was sent for post-mortem at Danapur sub-divisional hospital,” said Danapur ASP Bhanu Pratap Singh.
