Elderly duo accused of abusing woman corporator let off – The Times of India

Thane: Two hawkers, a senior citizen couple accused of abusing a lady corporator of the Thane Municipal Corporation , were acquitted after nearly 10 years by the district court that cited lack of conclusive evidence. The court said the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
The accused, both 64 years old, were engaged in road side business along station road. They allegedly objected to removal of their stalls, engaged in a heated argument with the corporator, and used abusive language. —Nishikant Karlikar
