Rourkela: Jhirpani police busted a sex racket and arrested three people, including an elderly couple, during a raid at a residential property in Jagda area on Tuesday evening. Five women were rescued from the premises.
Acting on a tip-off, a six-member police team led by inspector-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Naik conducted the raid around 4:30 pm. The operation involved police personnel posing as customers. The arrested persons include Joshna Biswal (62), the kingpin, her husband Upendra Biswal (72), and a customer, Umesh Biswal (36). Police sources revealed that Joshna had earlier been arrested on similar charges.
During the raid, police found one woman in a compromising position with a customer, while four others were rescued from different rooms of the house. Several objectionable items were also seized from the premises, which has since been sealed. The rescued women are being questioned and authorities are working to determine the extent of operation.
