Jharsuguda: Laikera police arrested eight men and detained a juvenile on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a youth to death over a minor dispute in Saletikra village.
The deceased, identified as Rajat Rajhans, was allegedly attacked on Dec 5 following an altercation with Saroj Patel (58), a village elder. Police reports indicate that Patel’s son and associates later assaulted Rajhans in retaliation.
Family members found Rajhans bleeding under a mango tree near a farmhouse and rushed him to the Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The arrests were made following a complaint filed by the victim’s family.TNN
