Edu vital for social growth: TMBU VC

Bhagalpur: Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) vice-chancellor Jawahar Lal on Friday said education was vital for personal and social growth, providing people with knowledge and skills for their careers and contributing to national development. Speaking at the 65th foundation day of TMBU, the VC said education not only supports individual development but also plays a key role in national progress.
The celebration included a workshop on the significance of quality and research-based education, alongside a reflection on the university’s rich history. Originally known as Bhagalpur University until 1991, TMBU was established on July 12, 1960.
The university offers 36 postgraduate programmes and it has 30 constituent colleges, 24 govt-funded affiliated colleges, five research centres, 15 BEd colleges, and various self-financing and vocational courses.
Lal said about 60,000 students are currently enrolled across these institutions.
