Bhubaneswar: The state govt on Sunday announced relaxation of curfew in Balasore town and restored internet services since no incidents of violence have been reported. The area had witnessed a clash between two groups on June 17.
Balasore district magistrate Ashish Thakare said curfew under Sahadevkhunta police station areas has been relaxed from 5am to 9pm.Similarly, curfew has been relaxed in areas under Town police station from 6am to 2pm.
Balasore SP Sagarika Nath said curfew is being relaxed gradually. “Curfew has been imposed in these two areas. There is no curfew in other areas of Balasore. Internet services will be operational from Monday onwards,” Nath said.
She said educational institutions in Balasore municipality area will be opened from Monday. “But the institutions under Town police station will operate between 5am and 2pm,” Nath added. The SP appealed to the people not to believe in rumours, misinformation and false narratives.
“As mobile internet service will be made available, people should not spread fake and hate messages on social media,” she said.TNN
