Drown: Investigation launched into the tragic drowning of a four-year-old girl at a swimming pool | Bhubaneswar News


Rourkela: Police on Monday started probe into the death of a four-year-old girl who drowned in a swimming pool at the Hockey Village here on Sunday.
Police visited the swimming pool along with parents of the deceased, Sumeha Singh.
The investigating officer interrogated trainer Alok Dungdung of Sambalpur, lifeguard Suraj Bage of Rajgangpur and Santosh Biswal, who manages the swimming pool.
Police during enquiry came to know that the girl’s mother was also learning swimming on the other side of pool at the time Sumeha entered the pool.
Sumeha had started taking swimming lessons a month back and used to go into the pool accompanied by her mother.
On Saturday afternoon, Sumeha went to the pool with her mother. There were 15-20 children when she entered the water.
Once the session ended, the children came out but Sumeha could not be found. Her mother asked the trainer and other staff about Sumeha and was told she may have gone to the washroom. Later, Sumeha’s body was found floating in the water. She was rushed to
Late in the night, Sumeha’s father Sunny Singh, lodged an FIR in Chhend police station after his daughter drowned. He accused the trainer and lifeguard of the swimming pool of negligence in the FIR.
“We are probing the case and will take action accordingly,” said N Tudu, sub-inspector, Chhend police station.
