Drizzle brings little respite to city as temps remain high

Mumbai: Parts of the city witnessed light drizzle in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, but this did not significantly bring down day temperatures. India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials attributed the unseasonal light rain to moisture incursion and localised convection, which is not uncommon in the month of April.
On Saturday morning, the IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories both recorded a minimum temperature of 26.4C, which was 0.2 and 1.1 below normal, respectively. Day temperatures recorded by the Colaba observatory was 33.8C, which was 0.2 below normal, and by the Santacruz observatory was 34.2C, which was 0.7 above normal . Humidity levels also continued to stay high as the Colaba and Santacruz stations recorded relative humidity of 76% and 67%, respectively.

IMD has forecast dry weather conditions ahead, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 34C and 26C, respectively.
Mumbaikars had mixed reactions to the drizzle. “It was a pleasant surprise to see light rain in April,” said Pritesh Shah, a resident of Chembur. “But it felt hotter and stickier the next morning.” tnn
