DRI raids Vikhroli residence, busts counterfeit currency racket; 1 held | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) raided a residence in Vikhroli West, Mumbai, and seized a large quantity of fake Indian currency notes, along with sophisticated printing equipment. The prime accused, Kulbir Lal Singh Wad (52), was arrested for running an illegal currency printing operation. Acting on intelligence, a DRI team conducted a search at Shiv Kripa Housing Society, Lakshmi Niwas Chawl, Anandgarh, Vikhroli (W). During the operation, authorities uncovered high-quality counterfeit Indian currency in denominations of Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 500, and Rs 1,000. Notes worth Rs 20,000 were seized.
DRI probe revealed Kulbir Wad moved into the rented premises 12 days ago and was using advanced printing techniques to replicate Indian currency. Following the raid, Wad was taken into police custody, and an FIR was registered. — Ahmed Ali
