Double Homicide in Muzaffarpur: Inter-Caste Love Affair Turns Fatal | – Times of India

Patna: An alleged inter-caste love affair turned ugly after a teenage youth and his minor nephew were shot dead in Muzaffarpur district, police said, adding that their bodies were recovered from near a pond early Saturday.
According to the police, the victims have been identified as Raju Das (18) and his nephew Suraj Das (14). Two persons have been detained for interrogation.
“Raju was having an affair with a village girl. The girl’s family was against their relationship as both were from different castes. Raju also attempted to elope with the girl around three months ago, but the family members caught them on the same day. Then he was sent to Bengaluru as the girl’s father threatened him,” SHO Monu Kumar said, adding that the detained individuals are from the girl’s family.
According to the police, both the bodies were found 150 yards away from their respective houses. Upon receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and sent the bodies for a medical examination. The police also recovered two empty bullet shells of a country-made pistol (katta) from the site.
“Both were shot in the head. Prima facie, the case appears to be a murder related to a love affair of Raju. Some evidence has been found on Raju’s mobile, based on which raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects,” the police added.
SDPO Kumar Chandan said the police investigation revealed that someone called Raju to meet. Subsequently, he went with Suraj to meet the caller, where both were shot dead, he said, adding, “Raju was living in Bengaluru at Suraj’s house. He returned to the village around one month ago, while Suraj returned before Chhath Puja.”
The police are yet to receive a written application from the victim’s family.
