Doctors: Salaries of 2 docs stopped for being absent from duty | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: Ganjam’s chief district medical officer has ordered to stop the salaries of two doctors of the community health centre (CHC) at Chikiti for being absent from duty, allegedly without taking leave.
Their absence came to light after the newly elected Chikiti MLA, Manoranjan Dyan Samantara, visited the hospital on Friday and verified the attendance register of the doctors and found that the duo did not sign the register.
“After getting a complaint from Chikiti MLA, we issued show-cause notices to the doctors on Saturday and also ordered to stop the payment of their salary since June 13 till they returned to the hospital,” Uma Shankar Mishra, the medical officer, said, adding, “We are waiting for their reply to the notices to take further course of action.” The two doctors have been asked to reply in three days.
On Friday, Manoranjan visited the CHC to inspect the facilities there. He also verified the attendance registered by the doctors.
“I found that two doctors had not signed the register since June 13. I immediately informed the medical officer about their illegal practice,” the MLA said.
