Doctor: Police Search for Doctor Imposter at RGH, Fake MBBS Certificate Provided |
Rourkela: Police on Friday said they are trying to trace Dr Ramesh Chandra Jha, under whose name 53-year-old Padmanavan Mukhi Karwa was operating as a doctor in the dialysis centre of Rourkela Govt Hospital for the past seven months.
They will also attempt to locate one “Sharmaji” of Patna who allegedly provided Karwa with a fake MBBS certificate. The police have also contacted the Chandigarh-based outsourcing firm, Rahi Care Dialysis, for further investigation.Out of the Rs 16 lakh loan Karwa recently obtained from a private NBFC, he has withdrawn Rs 11 lakh, while the remaining Rs 5 lakh has been frozen by police.
“The fake doctor was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment by judicial magistrate first class, Sundargarh, in 2022 in a previous case registered by Town police. He should still be in jail. We are investigating how he was released,” said Brijesh Kumar Rai, DIG, Rourkela. Police suspect Karwa may have obtained bail from a higher court. TNN
