Patna: Minister of land reforms and revenue and member of legislative council, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, who was made the state BJP chief on Thursday night, said here on Friday that the BJP and other NDA partners would fight the assembly elections next year under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar. Jaiswal has taken over from deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, who also held the post of state BJP chief.
Jaiswal is said to have his social and political base in Purnia division that has sizeable population of minorities. He held the post of state BJP treasurer for a long time. Choudhary was made the party chief in the state in March 2023.
“If you look at the last 15-year old record, the BJP and NDA have always performed well in the elections under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar,” Jaiswal said.
In the last 15 years, Nitish’s JD(U) was out of the NDA from June 2013 to July 2017, and then again from August 2022 to January 28 this year. Barring this, he has been with the NDA through the 2009, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the last 15 years, also through the 2010 and 2020 assembly elections.
Jaiswal met Choudhary on Friday after being made the new state BJP chief.
