Diarrhoea outbreak affects over 100 residents in Niladri Vihar

Bhubaneswar: A suspected diarrhoea outbreak in ward no. 13 of Niladri Vihar has affected more than 100 residents of the recently rehabilitated Nilamadhav Niwas slum here.
Sources said multiple patients are currently receiving treatment at the local primary healthcare centre, while some cases were referred to the Capital Hospital. The health and family welfare department deployed a special team to the affected area to manage the situation and distribute essential medicines and ORS to residents.
“The situation is not that serious,” said director, Capital Hospital, Dilip Panda, adding that the hospital administration is well-prepared with their medical facilities to treat the patients.
According to local residents, the outbreak has persisted for around 10 days. A health department official confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored and no casualties have been reported. “The team of medical professionals is stationed in the area for the last three days, providing treatment to affected patients, with some cases being referred accordingly,” the official said.
