Dialysis patients unwind with games at Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: Between 750 and 1,000 patients receiving free dialysis services from the state govt gathered at Kanteerava Stadium here and participated in indoor games Sunday morning.
The health department set up a public–private partnership (PPP) model with Nephro Care Health Service Pvt Ltd on Dec 6, 2023, under which free dialysis services are provided in govt hospitals in Mysuru and Bengaluru. As many as 57 centres with 250 dialysis machines were established in govt hospitals in Bengaluru Urban district, while 56 centres with 222 machines were sanctioned to hospitals in Mysuru, a health official said.
The govt reimbursed a per-cycle charge of Rs 1,573 to the agency under the model, said the official, adding that both APL and BPL patients were given free dialysis.
Health and family welfare minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, who lauded the PPP model on social media, said, “Our govt has implemented single-use dialysis services in rural areas, making treatment more accessible and convenient. The initiative has received positive feedback from rural communities.”
