Devotees: Devotees overjoyed as 4-yr wait comes to an end | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: A wave of euphoria swept across Puri amid chants of ‘Jai Jagannath’ when all the doors of the 12th-century shrine were thrown open for devotees on Thursday, ending their four years of hardship and inconvenience. Worshippers showered praise on the BJP govt for taking this measure.
“I once fainted while standing in a long queue outside the main lion gate.As the other three doors were out of bounds for us, devotees had to wait for hours. We had requested the previous govt to open all doors, but to no avail,” Sarojini Satapathy (67), a devotee who came to Puri with her family from Bhubaneswar, said.
Sankhali Mohanty, another devotee from Cuttack, said, “I used to visit the temple twice or thrice every month before 2020. After the restriction on the entry of devotees through all doors, I visited only four times in the last four years. I had deliberately avoided visiting the shrine because of the inconvenience and long queues. Now, darshan is smooth.” Puri locals are also on cloud nine.
The distance between the four doors is nearly 200 meters each.
