Patna: More than 400 newly admitted students attended the induction programme organised at the Patna Science College here on Saturday. The induction was held at the physics lecture theatre of the prestigious college where well-known scientists, academics and bureaucrats were groomed during the past 97 years.
Former DGP Abhayanand and vice chancellor of Nalanda Open University, K C Sinha, both alumni of this prestigious institution, were among the distinguished guests who addressed the new students.
Recalling his time spent in this college, Abhayanand exhorted the students to devote their maximum time to self-study as it would lead to their healthy academic development. “You will learn many new things in the college, but only regular self-study will make you perfect,” he said.
Abhayanand explained the way science should be studied properly. He asked students not to miss any practical class in the college as it would help them understand better the fundamental principles of scientific theories. “Practical classes helped me a lot in understanding many complex theories of physics,” he said.
Addressing the students as the chief guest, K C Sinha said that students should derive maximum benefits from the knowledge and experience of their teachers.
“Students can achieve their goals in life only through hard work and strong determination. They should remain devoted to their academic pursuits to excel in life,” he said.
College principal D N Thakur, in his welcome address, outlined the history and growth of the institution, and presented the details of academic and infrastructural facilities available for the students. He appealed to the newcomers to maintain the glorious tradition of the college.
PU students’ welfare dean Anil Kumar, proctor Rajneesh Kumar, physics department head Shankar Kumar, botany department head Birendra Prasad and Patna University Teachers’ Association president, Abhay Kumar, also addressed the students.
