Ulhasnagar: An Ulhasnagar resident allegedly strangled his wife and daughter, who recently cleared her SSC with good marks, and then died by hanging himself with a dupatta at their flat.The deceased have been identified as Pawan Pahuja (51), wife Neha (48) and daughter Roshni (16). Anil Kateja, a businessman from Sonara Gali, said, “Pawan was depressed due to his younger son’s death six months ago due to ill health and financial losses he had suffered in business.”A police official said, “We found a video he recorded before the deaths in which he mentioned he had taken this step on his own and no one should be held responsible for it.” The tragedy came to light Thursday morning at Harsha Cottage building situated in Bewas Chowk area when Pawan’s brother who lived with them found the three dead and informed the police. Police said Pahuja ran a gold-manufacturing shop in Sonara Gali, Ulhasnagar. Police said they are questioning neighbours and family members regarding the drastic step taken by Pahuja. DCP Sachin Gore of Ulhasnagar division said, “Pahuja’s brother, who was in another room in the flat, knocked on the door in the morning but did not get a response. He then broke open the door and found Pahuja hanging while the two were lying motionless on the bed.” Police have filed a murder case against Pawan. — Pradeep Gupta
