Dense fog warning for 16 dists | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: A warning of dense fog was issued by IMD on Wednesday for 16 districts for the next two-three days. The districts expected to witness dense fog are Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Sambalpur, Kandhamal and Malkangiri.
Manorama Mohanty, scientist and head of the regional IMD centre here, said conditions were quite favourable for continuous development of fog, mostly in coastal pockets. She further said that both day and night temperature would likely to witness a rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the period.
Dense to very dense fog, reducing visibility to below 50 metres, prevailed at several places, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Angul, Koraput and Nayagarh. The fog affected lives, road and rail communication.
On Wednesday, Rourkela recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 10C. The capital city recorded a minimum of 21.8C, a 5.8 degrees rise than the normal.
