Delay in Varsity Budget Review Frustrates Teachers in Bihar | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Federation of University Teachers’ Associations of Bihar (FUTAB) has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the prolonged review of annual budgets for state universities for the financial year 2024-25. The organisation has urged the govt to expedite the process.
FUTAB’s working president, Kanhaiya Bahadur Sinha, and general secretary, Sanjay Kumar Singh, highlighted that the university-wise budget reviews have been ongoing for four to five months. As a result, salary and pension grants from March to June were released on an ad-hoc basis with only 42% dearness allowance. The state education department had indicated that after the budget review, grants from July onward would be released with an enhanced DA rate of 50%.
They also raised concerns that a recent order from the education department for universities to refund unspent amounts in their PL accounts could further delay the release of salary and pension grants.
The federation members appealed to the education minister to intervene and ensure the timely release of annual grants to the universities.
Higher education director Rekha Kumari said the review of university budgets has been completed and the file would be placed before higher authorities next week for approval.
