Cyber Fraud: Woman Intimidated into Stripping Over Video Call in Shocking Scam | Mumbai News – Times of India
Mumbai: A woman working in a pharma company was intimidated by cyber fraudsters who threatened her with “digital arrest” and was forced to strip over a video call under the pretext of undergoing “body verification”. The woman lodged a complaint with Dahisar police. An FIR was registered by them and transferred to Andheri Police for investigation as the offence occurred in the latter’s jurisdiction. No arrest has been made so far.
The incident occurred between Nov 19 and 20, police said. Fraudsters posing as Delhi Police officers got in touch with the complainant. They scared her into believing that a money laundering investigation was going on against her and she would face arrest.
Threatening to “digitally arrest” her, fraudsters forced her to book a hotel room. Keeping her engaged in conversation, they defrauded her of Rs 1.7 lakh online. Further, they got her to strip over a video call on the pretext of body verification.
