Kendrapada: In yet another case of crocodiles attacking humans near Bhitarkanika National Park, a 58-year-old man was attacked on Monday while trying to cross a creek with his buffaloes in Ichapur village under Aul block.
His mangled remains were found on the Kharosotra river bank on Monday afternoon, said Chittaranjan Beura, forest range officer of the park.He is the ninth person to fall prey to crocodiles in the area in 13 months. Twenty-five persons have been killed by crocodiles in 29 months. “The forest department will provide Rs 6 lakh to the family members of the victim after inquiry,” said divisional forest officer, Bhitarkanika National Park, Sudarshan Gopinath Yadav.
