Crocodile Attack: Croc Kills Man In Bhitarkanika; 8th Such Death In 10 Months | Bhubaneswar News



Kendrapada: A saltwater crocodile killed and ate a man when he was taking a bath in the Kharosotra river at Singidi village near Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapada district on Wednesday morning. His half-eaten body was found on the banks of the river in the afternoon.
The victim was identified as Sanatan Samal (56). They have registered a complaint at Rajkanika police station, alleging Sanatan was killed by a crocodile.The forest department will give a compensation of Rs 6 lakh to his family after an inquiry.
He is the eighth victim to be killed by a crocodile in the riverside villages in just over 10 months. “The forest department has recently put up barricades around 140 river ghats around Bhitarkanika in Aul, Rajnagar, Rajkanika and Pattamundai blocks to prevent crocodile attacks and warned villagers living near the river to take a bath within the barricades in the rivers,” Manas Das, assistant chief conservator of the park, said.
