Criminals loot ₹19 lakh from Axis Bank branch at Bihta | – Times of India

Patna: A group of four armed robbers committed a daring heist at the Bihta branch of Axis Bank in Patna on Saturday, holding the staff and customers hostage at gunpoint and fleeing with Rs 19.31 lakh in cash, including Rs 41,000 from a customer and Rs 1.4 lakh from a micro-finance company employee who had come to the bank to deposit the money.
The robbery occurred around 11.42am on the Bihta-Maner main road, when two masked men entered the bank located on the first floor of a building near Devkuli Mor.They were quickly joined by another man, while a fourth stood guard outside. Armed with weapons, they overpowered the bank employees and customers, taking them hostage.
City SP (west) Abhinav Dhiman said all four robbers were covering their faces with masks and ‘gamchas’.
“They carried out the robbery within 10 minutes and escaped on two motorbikes towards Maner. At the time of the incident, seven employees and seven customers were in the bank,” Dhiman added.
The police obtained the bank’s CCTV footage and are examining cameras installed in the surrounding areas to identify the robbers.
According to eyewitnesses, the criminals were constantly communicating with someone on the phone before brandishing their pistols. Ganesh Chaudhary, a customer who had come to deposit money, said one of the robbers looted Rs 41,000 in cash from him at gunpoint.
