‘Criminals get a free hand’: MVA boycotts govt tea party | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: MVA on Sunday boycotted the Mahayuti govt’s customary tea party on the eve of the budget session of the state legislature.
Slamming govt over the deteriorating law and order situation, following a BJP Union minister’s complaint that her daughter was harassed at a fair, Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray took a dig at CM Devendra Fadnavis, saying in the past decade, he has held the home portfolio, barring the two-and-a-half years of the MVA tenure. “The hands of police are tied. Criminals have been given a free hand,” he told reporters. He said a call on leader of the opposition in the assembly will be taken soon, and there was no rift in MVA like there was in Mahayuti.
Sena (UBT)’s Ambadas Danve, NCP (SP)’s Jitendra Awhad, and Congress’s Bhai Jagtap and Amin Patel were also present. MVA demanded NCP minister Dhananjay Munde’s resignation over the sarpanch murder case and alleged that the accused was getting VIP treatment in jail. Danve asked that the names of ministers’ PAs and OSDs deemed ‘fixers’ be made public. Awhad sought the disqualification of NCP minister Manikrao Kokate over his conviction in a housing fraud case.
