Cracks on Tambaram flyover disrupts traffic | Chennai News – The Times of India

Chennai: Traffic on the Tambaram flyover was affected on Wednesday morning after a crack appeared on the road of the flyover
The flyover extends from near MCC College on the East Tambaram-Velachery Road to ESI Hospital on the West Tambaram-Mudichur Road at one end. The other end connects near Irumbuliyur on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway to the West Tambaram bus stand.
On Wednesday morning, a crack appearing to be structural damage was seen on the Mudichur side of the flyover, on the route leading towards the roundabout, said police. As a result, vehicles travelling from Mudichur Road towards the flyover roundabout were forced to move very slowly, causing severe traffic congestion on the flyover.
While Tambaram traffic police placed barricades around the affected area to divert vehicles, Tambaram Corporation and the highways department inspected the spot and filled the gap using a mixture of cement and crushed stones.
