Bhubaneswar: Veteran CPI leader Dibakar Nayak passed away here on Saturday night following prolonged illness. He was 72.
Nayak was the state general secretary of CPI for many years and was a member of the party’s national executive committee. Born in Sendchitira village in Bhadrak district, Nayak began his political career as the students’ union president of Bhadrak College.
Condolences poured in for Nayak following his demise. CM Mohan Charan Majhi posted on X, “I offer my condolences to the grieving family and pray for the peace of the departed soul.”
Leader of opposition, Naveen Patnaik, said, “I am saddened to hear about the passing of Dibakar Nayak, former state secretary of CPI. His significant contributions to social service will be remembered. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and pray for the peace of the departed soul.”
