Court summons forest officer for contempt charges | Patna News – Times of India

Court summons forest officer

Patna: Expressing displeasure over the delay caused by state officers in complying with a court directive issued two years ago, the Patna high court on Monday summoned the state’s principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF), N Jawahar Babu, to appear before the court next week to face contempt charges.
A division bench comprising Justices P B Bajanthari and G Anupama Chakravarthy issued this order while hearing a contempt petition filed by one Sanjay Kumar. The petitioner’s counsel, Kumar Dhirendra Pratap Singh, informed the court that two years ago, a division bench had instructed the divisional forest officer of Sheohar to address Kumar’s representation requesting a sawmill license. The order stipulated a three-month period for disposal, but no final decision has been made by the state’s forest department despite the elapsed time.
The judges found a prima facie case of contempt and directed the PCCF to appear on July 29, when the case will be further reviewed.
