Berhampur: The district election officials in Gajapati are gearing up for counting of votes on June 4.
The district has two assembly segments — Paralakhemundi and the ST reserved Mohana seat — and they fall under the Berhampur parliamentary constituency.
The counting of votes of the assembly and Lok Sabha segments will take place at SKCG Autonomous College in Paralakhemundi where the EVMs have been kept amid tight security after polling on May 13.
Around 180 officials would be engaged for the counting of votes amid tight security.
“Three-tier security arrangements would be made for the counting of votes. Barricades will be put up 100 m away from the counting area. Special training has already been given to those who would be engaged in the counting process,” Gajapati collector-cum-district electoral officer Smruti Ranjan Pradhan said.
As per Election Commission’s guidelines, initially, the postal ballots will be counted, followed by the votes polled in the EVMs.
