Cops seize luxury cars, jewellery from con duo | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Police seized several luxury cars and jewellery, among other items belonging to Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Kumar Mohanty, who allegedly duped many people by posing as family members of P K Mishra, principal secretary to the Prime Minister.
Police sources said as many as four luxury cars seized from Hansita (36) and Anil (48), worth crores, over the past two days and were brought to the commissionerate police headquarters. Income tax department is also investigating the financial transactions of the fraudsters, the sources added.
“We got one-day remand of the accused and interrogated them. Based on the information provided by the duo, we seized the luxury vehicles and other expensive items, including jewellery,” said commissioner of police S Dev Datta Singh.
Singh said during interrogation, the accused revealed various details of their financial transactions. “We sought three-day remand of the duo but got one day only. Yet we received valuable information which will help in our investigation,” he said.
He said the duo was arrested based on a person’s complaint. “It is likely that more people who fell victim to the fraudsters and they might come forward in the days to come. We are urging people again to come and report if they were duped by the duo,” Singh said.
On Dec 30, the commissionerate police arrested the accused for posing as kin of the PMs principal secretary and allegedly collecting money from people by promising to get their important work done. The duo, both residents of Bhubaneswar, allegedly opened fake companies to defraud people.
