Bhubaneswar: Airfield police detained three suspects for the murder of city builder Sasmit Kumar Biswal, aged 47. The arrests were made late Friday night following a formal complaint by the victim’s brother. The detained persons were identified as Gulu Mohanty, 34, Manoj Behera, 31, and Sukanta Behera, 41 of Pradhan Sahi under Airfield police limits.
According to Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, the victim was allegedly embroiled in a land plotting business dispute with the accused. “Preliminary probe points to a business-related conflict as primary motive behind the murder,” Meena said.
While three suspects are in custody, four others named in the complaint remain at large. Police said efforts are on to nab them. “A forensic team examined the crime scene, and the post-mortem examination was completed. Our special investigation team is working to arrest the remaining suspects,” Meena added.
