Cops crack ATM theft case, arrest 6 | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Police solved an ATM theft case with the arrest of six persons, including two with prior criminal records. The incident took place on Jan 24 in Lingaraj police station area.
Police commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh announced that authorities recovered Rs 1.6 lakh cash, along with a vehicle and various tools used in the crime. “The investigation is going on,” Singh said at a press briefing.
According to police, the suspects dismantled an ATM machine at Sriram Nagar and later disposed of it in Gangua Nullah near Samantarapur before fleeing with the cash. The entire operation was captured by surveillance cameras, which proved instrumental in identifying the perpetrators.
Former DCP Bhubaneswar Pinak Mishra emphasised the importance of CCTV footage in solving the case. “We are urging banking institutions to deploy security personnel at each ATM as a crucial security measure,” Mishra said.
