Berhampur: In a major crackdown on illicit manufacturing of country-made liquor, police on Friday unearthed 84 liquor production units and seized around 3,500 litres of country-made liquor in seven villages of Badapalli panchayat in Ganjam district.
A total of 15 platoons of police and several officers, led by SP (Ganjam) Suvendu Kumar Patra, raided Gundripalli, Marei Nuagon, Nuapalli, Badapalli, Debijhara, Kamarasingi and Chakasinghi — known as the hub of illegal country-made liquor production and distribution — early in the morning.
Around 20 people, including 12 women, allegedly involved in the production of illegal liquor were arrested, police said. Several others managed to escape.TNN
