Cop’s bike stolen from police quarters in Bengaluru, son of colleague suspect

Bengaluru: A reserve police inspector’s Royal Enfield bike, parked in the parking lot of a police quarters on Mysuru Road, was stolen by an unknown person recently. The inspector, working in state intelligence, had parked his two-wheeler on the evening of April 12, but found it stolen around 2.30am the next morning.
The City Armed Reserve (CAR) police quarters is guarded 24×7. Investigators suspect the juvenile son of a head constable in the fire and emergency services is behind the theft.
The suspect’s family earlier stayed near the police quarters, and he was familiar with a few families living in the quarters and the CAR headquarters staff.
According to the complaint filed by Kashinath Reddy Biradar, 36, reserve police inspector, his Royal Enfield (bearing registration number KA-17-HH-8102) was stolen between 2am and 2.15am on April 13.
Biradar, who stays in Kumudhwati building in the quarters, immediately alerted the CAR police on guard duty and then the police. They checked the CCTV footage and found a youth wearing a hoodie breaking the hand-lock of the bike and starting it with a duplicate key, before speeding away.
A senior police officer said CAR police are deployed to guard the main gate in three shifts. The guard duty staff weren’t present at the gate at the time of the incident. “The suspect is on the run with the bike. We’re making efforts to nab him. The cameras from surrounding roads are also being analysed to know where the suspect has gone. His family has been alerted about the incident and instructed to bring him to the station if they come in contact with him,” the officer added.
