Controversy over Construction Work Continues in Patna Despite Minister’s Assurance | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Despite assurance given by the urban development and housing minister, Nitin Nabin, to a visiting delegation of traders and citizens on Sunday that the demolition of parking space and construction work for plantation under Raja Bazar flyover on Nehru Path (Bailey Road) would be stopped, the work instead has been sped up, especially, during the night hours alleged shopkeepers and residents of Raja Bazar area.
Strange is the fact that the officials of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Patna forest division have also requested the district administration for deployment of additional police force to provide security during the construction work. The additional force has been demanded amid protests by the local businessmen and citizens.

Despite min’s promise, work on to create green space: Shopkeepers

Talking to TOI Nabin said, “In my knowledge, further demolition of parking space and construction work have been halted. I will talk to the officials concerned over the issue.”
Nabin had on Sunday said that the officials had been asked to stop the construction work and a formal order in this regard would be issued on Monday. He, on July 19, had also assured the local businessmen and residents to look into the matter. He had talked to the municipal commissioner in this regard.
Local sources said several workers were seen expediting the construction work for the plantation under the flyover during the night time. At some places, earthmover machines could be spotted filling the soil under the Raja Bazar flyover, they said.
When asked if the UDHD minister has given any direction regarding the suspension of the construction works, PMC commissioner, Animesh Kumar Parashar, said, “The construction work is not going on at present.”
RJD spokesperson, Chitranjan Gagan, said that the bureaucracy is dominating the state govt. “The ministers of the state govt have no control over the bureaucrats. The officials sitting in the chief minister’s secretariat are giving all the orders,” Gagan alleged.
