Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of govt contractual employees protested in front of the assembly on Wednesday, demanding regularisation of their jobs and fair wages.
“Outsourced employees play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of govt departments but are often denied the rights and privileges enjoyed by permanent govt employees. Even the outsourcing agencies exploiting us by taking a significant share of our salaries while offering minimal job protection,” Manas Das, general secretary of Odisha Government Outsourcing Employees Federation, said.
The protestors submitted a memorandum to the authorities concerned and sought chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s intervention in the matter. They warned that if their demands were not met, they will intensify their agitation in the coming months.
Govt officials were not available for a comment.
