Madhepura: With the approval of an additional 32km, a fresh alignment for the Patna-Purnia six-lane greenfield expressway has been finalised. Construction is expected to commence soon – from Dighwara in Saran district to Dagarua in Purnia district.
At a press meet held at his Saharsa residence, Madhepura JD(U) MP Dinesh Chandra Yadav said, “The expressway will prove to be a boon for the Kosi and Seemanchal people as the largest stretch of the road will cross through these two regions, connecting rural and riparian areas.”
Initially approved for 250km, the expressway’s length has now been extended by 32km. “It will now start from Dighwara in Saran district and end at Dagarua in Purnia district,” Yadav said.
The expressway is set to bypass Hajipur town, beginning at Hajipur-Chhapra NH-31 near Dighwara in Saran district. It will traverse several key locations, including Bidupur, Kachhidargah, Dumari Bujurg, Patepur, Rajapakhar, Laxmanpur, and north of Jandaha, crossing NH-322 between Sarangpur and Sarairanjan. The route will also pass through Chandaur, Chaita villages and NH-527 between Rosara and Jahangirpur, further connecting Debdha, Ladma and Kusheshwarsthan.
“This road will enter the Kosi region at Kathdumer and cross through Rajanpurbadhba, Sonbersa Kachahri, Kahra block headquarters Haripur-Makhar and villages like Lagma-Bhaptiha, Khajuraha, Patarghat, Maganwar, Jemhara, Bhawangama and Rajni before entering Purnia district,” he added.
In Purnia, the expressway will pass near Barhara Kothi, Damaili, Kajra-Kajha, Parora, Banbhag, Purnea aerodrome, Gulabbag, Kashwa and merge with NH-27 at Dagarua.
